Craze Review (Driven Sports / DS)

by

Okay, before starting this review I would like to point out that there are two categories of pre-workout supplements IMO. There are those that have multiple ergogenic ingredients like creatine, branch chained amino acids, glutamine, citrulline malate, beta alanine etc. along with stims like caffeine. And those that tend to be cheaper, contain 45 to 60 servings in a smaller bottle and boast of their small serving size of a 5 to 7 grams.

The former ones are conventional types that will give results after consistent use, replenish your damaged muscle fibers and will improve strength as well by their stimulant action. Those with the smaller serving size have more stimulants and will help in focused training, intense workouts and help in strength gains quickly by acting on the CNS directly. So, you need to get the recovery agents like creatine, BCAA separately for intra and post workout usage.

I have tried many different pre-workout supplements and am currently using Driven Sports Craze. It has 45 servings and each serving weighs about 6 grams. This supplement belongs to that second class of pre-workout products. This supplement is excellent and far better than supplements like Jack3d and NeuroCore by Muscletech that contained geranium extract or 1, 3 DMAA. I have been against the usage of 1, 3 DMAA from the very beginning – which of course later the FDA turned against and now it’s banned for supplement use.

Does It Work?

My experience with DS Craze has been great and it has helped me get through intense workout sessions without making me tired. My lifts have gone up by at least 20% while I was using this pre-workout. I took it 20 minutes before workouts followed by 5 grams creatine, 10 grams BCAAs and 15 grams glutamine with my whey shake immediately after workout.

Creatine, betaine, caffeine and citrulline malate are the ingredients that form most part of the supplement. Creatine helps in recovery of the creatine from muscles that form the ATP. Citrulline malate is better than arginine and directly gives a pumping effect and makes you feel vascular – which has been verified by recent findings. Caffeine and PEA or pehylethylamine form the stimulant complex which aids in CNS stimulation.

I can vouch for this product after using more than 30 servings over the last 4 weeks or so. It gives me the ability to lift more that causes microtrauma which will heal resulting in growth. I eat a lot when I use such energy supplements to improve recovery especially meat and complex carbs. My weight increased 10 pounds in 30 days and I will thus rate it 9/10 for effectiveness and 9/10 as well for value for money. I don’t find it expensive – it’s worth the price to get intense weight lifting sessions.

Taste / Mixability

Coming back to taste; it is neither good nor bad. I will say 6 out of ten. I bought Grape Candy flavor but should have selected Berry Lemonade. The powder smells like Grape Juice but starts tasting sour and has an after taste which disappoints me. I have always used one serving and never exceeded one scoop for a workout. This works fine for me.

Another thing I am always concerned with is mixability. Craze mixes well in water. There’s no issue with mixing. I can give it full marks 10/10 for mixability.

Digestion

There is no issue with digestion. Sometimes I felt a little bloating and it could be because of the stimulant action. I can rate it 8/10 for causing me a little stomach upset.

In Conclusion

I recommend you give it a try. It can be used while cutting as well if you wish to boost your aerobic stamina or to get rid of fat while training with weights by cutting your carbs – it can do wonders. So, thumbs up for craze from me.
